Arcon launches 21 new homes with Bellway in Boothstown, Salford

Families are moving into their new homes in Boothstown, Salford in time for Christmas as part of a regeneration scheme launched by Arcon Housing Group.

Stakeholders, including Arcon Housing Group Board members and the Deputy Chief Executive of Bolton at Home Noel Sharpe, attended the launch at Bellway Homes’ Edenfields development in Boothstown in Salford.

Councillor Tracy Kelly, Salford City Council’s Lead Member for Housing and Neighbourhoods officially launched the scheme and said homes of all kinds were desperately needed in Salford.

Arcon is offering 21 new three or four bed-homes for shared ownership or rent as part of the wider Bellway Homes development, which also includes a range of high spec private homes which are available. Prices start from £99,800 for a 40% share in a four-bed home with Arcon, with private sale prices with Bellway Homes ranging from £319,995 to £469,995.

Buyers will be helped by the Government abolishing stamp duty on shared ownership homes up to £500,000, which was announced in Philip Hammond’s recent Budget.

The rented properties with Arcon have been advertised on Salford City Council’s Choice Based Lettings scheme - Salford Home Search and are set at £133 per week for a three-bed home and £152 per week for a four bed-home.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr Kelly said:

“I am absolutely delighted to be launching the Arcon aspect of this Bellway Homes development which is a mixture of homes for rent and homes for ownership. It is a strong partnership and is great for the city of Salford.

“We have more than 6,000 people on our housing register, so we need more housing.  It’s great that this new community will be coming together in time for Christmas.”

Claire Morris, Development Director for Arcon Housing Group, added:

“This development shows the breadth of Arcon’s ambition, ranging from developing a small but complex infill site at Trafford to being part of this large-scale high quality regeneration scheme in Salford.

We’re really proud of what we’ve done here – to deliver something tenure blind, across a range of tenures to meet needs, a mixed tenure scheme including a gateway to home ownership through shared ownership, affordable housing and social rent, all as part of the same scheme.

I’m proud of our specialist team at Arcon who have worked on this, which is a great example of public and private partnership working, involving Bellway Homes, Salford City Council and other stakeholders.”
