Community Fund 2019-2020

Barnabus was given £2000 to help fund the costs of trained staff/volunteers teams going out in the evenings to make eye contact with rough sleepers and homeless people on the streets of Manchester, to inform them about local services and encourage them to engage with help available. Teams go out on Monday to Thursday evenings offering friendship, hot drinks and information about day centres, soup runs and other local support services.

contact Contact were awarded £1000 from our Community Fund, which will help to assist young people through our hardship fund which provides funding for clothing, fares, birth certificates ID. This fund helps to establish much needed identity and accelerates independence. They actively encourage all the young people who have moved to keep in touch and contact them if are in danger and/or need. They are able to issue emergency payments for food, energy, essential travel and health costs, if required.

healthy me Health me Healthy was given £1000 that they will use to provide 2 different types of courses. One will be for six-week cooking sessions at 4 of their Community Grocers and the second course that will be funded from the award will be one accredited food-safety four-week course at on of the Community Grocers.

The Launch Project Have been awarded £1000 and their aim is to address poverty in local communities. The grant will help to run a programme of regular social events and activities in Salford and adjoining areas of Manchester. They want to have a food-themed events where residents from different cultures can come together to socialise and learn about food from other cultures, as well as being encouraged to make healthier eating choices.

Mustard Tree Arcon have awarded £1000 that will be used to fund the stationery and promotional costs of freedom, their flagship vocational training and life skills project for people in poverty and facing homelessness across Greater Manchester.

The Manchester Youth Zone Have been awarded £500. Manchester Youth Zone operates in a very challenging area of Manchester where children and young people grow up around poverty and deprivation, often with poor role models and low expectations about what life will bring. The grant will be used to run STEM-related activities(Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths)

Northmoor Community Association Were awarded £500 that will help the association to secure the costs to purchase 100 online accredited courses purchased through HighSpeed Training which enables the ability to offer a wide range of social and professional courses for those needing to increase their knowledge, updated their CV and improve their I.T skills.
