New partnership to deliver 1,300 homes

We have a shareholder meeting in early March to sign off this agreement and if everything is agreed we will progress with our transition plans.

We can achieve so much more being part of the new Bolton at Home Group. Our coming together will stretch our development capacity, by utilising Arcon’s development expertise and the geographic spread of our stock portfolio across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, High Peak and Fylde, coupled with access to the wider resources and the additional funding capability which the Bolton at Home Group can bring into play.

Our commitment to build more new affordable homes across the North West through this strategic partnership will bring mutual benefits, enhancing our capability. We therefore look forward to exciting times ahead and forging new partnerships in the future.

Arcon already works alongside Bolton at Home as part of the Greater Manchester Housing Providers’ Group, which enables us to deliver many more of the much-needed new homes the region needs at an even greater pace than could be achieved individually.

Greater Manchester Spatial Framework

The consultation for plans for the revised Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, which is Greater Manchester’s blueprint for Homes, Jobs and the Environment until 2037, has opened, with the aim of making our city fit for purpose.

This Framework will help us to address the housing challenges we all face and will help us collectively to meet our target of delivering 50,000 new affordable homes over the next 20 years across Greater Manchester. We will work together to deliver the homes we need, with 30,000 of those affordable homes we provide being available at social rent.

We are proud of the range of expertise we have in our specialist development team, working in partnership with national private homebuilders, including four new shared ownership homes at Albion Lock in Sandbach with Taylor Wimpey,

Our team has also extended our offer, with our first new supported housing scheme in Droylsden, Tameside.

Stress testing for No-deal Brexit

The Chief Executive of the Regulator of Social Housing Fiona McGregor has written to all housing providers across England to ensure extra stress testing and that their plans are robust over the threat of a No-deal Brexit. Key risk areas include shortages of crucial materials, a housing market crash and difficulties accessing business-critical data, if there is a disorderly Brexit.

For some time now, we have been concerned that Brexit negotiations will drive up the costs of materials and labour impacting our delivery of new homes. Our joining of the financially robust Bolton at Home Group Ltd will help to mitigate the threat of a No-deal Brexit, which continues to loom over us. We hope there will be a resolution of these matters in the coming weeks.

Together with Tenants

The National Housing Federation has launched their Together With Tenants plan, which proposes a range of measures to help ensure tenants are listened to and have greater opportunities to influence decisions made about their homes and the services they receive.
